DAILY KOS: Trump: Let them eat smog—and my racist post was 'very strong'

President Donald Trump held a press conference in the Oval Office on Thursday, alongside Environmental Protection Agency Administrator—and gas flow enthusiast—Lee Zeldin to announce he was revoking the 2009 scientific finding that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases endanger public health, the legal foundation for most climate regulations.

But clean air and all of that scientific mumbo-jumbo apparently means very little to Trump, who was asked what he would say to the hundreds of millions of Americans worried about the health consequences of rolling back those protections.

“I tell them don't worry about it because it has nothing to do with public health. This was all a scam, a giant scam,” Trump said, dismissing climate change protections as a “rip off” and claiming that eliminating these protections would somehow leave Americans with more money for health care. “Nobody's doing more for health care than the Republican Party.”

.@weijia: "What do you tell Americans who are concerned that the $1.3 trillion in savings does come at a cost to public health and the environment based on science?" Trump: "I tell them don't worry about it because it has nothing to do with public health. This was all a scam." pic.twitter.com/JVVS8Iqtg4

He was also asked whether the conveniently unnamed “staffer” who reportedly posted an unbelievably racist meme to Trump’s social media account, depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes, had been disciplined.

“No, I haven't,” Trump replied, before calling the video a “very strong” piece on voter fraud. “And the piece that you're talking about was all over the place many times, I believe for years,” he added.

This leaves two possibilities: either the person responsible for posting the racist meme received no consequences, or Trump posted it himself and, as we all know, will never admit he’s a mess of a person.

It’s also a curious defense, claiming the racist video circulated for “years” and was “all over the place,” yet somehow whoever posted it missed the super racist part?
